Ecclestone: F1's 2021 engine plan expensive and unnecessary

Bernie Ecclestone reckons it is no surprise that Formula 1 manufacturers have criticised the 2021 power unit regulations proposed recently by the FIA and the sport's new owners. The engine proposals for 2021 were not well received by Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault, who reckon they would have to spend a lot again in order to adapt to the new units. Former F1 CEO Ecclestone, who was deposed in January, believes that the changes involve too much extra expense on top of the existing investment, and that there was a less complex way of addressing the situation.
