Mercedes says Q3 error cost Hamilton pole shot

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff believes his team should have been in a fight for pole for the Hungarian Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton, had the Briton not run wide on his first Q3 effort. Hamilton went off the circuit at Turn 4 during his first run and then failed to match the pace of the Ferraris in his second and final one. Wolff believes the mistake stopped Hamilton from fighting for pole. "Throughout qualifying we improved and I think we would have been in the fight for pole position," said Wolff. "But obviously the mistake in the second to last lap compromised Lewis' final run. So I'm actually OK [about the pace gap to Ferrari]." Hamilton complained through the session...
