Gearbox problem halts Massa's race

Singapore Grand Prix – Shortly after being forced to pit because of a slow puncture, Felipe Massa retired his Williams car as a result of a gearbox problem. Having qualified in seventh and ninth, Williams were hoping to make progress in the race and secure a double points finish, but Felipe Massa's race ended early on due to a gearbox problem. Massa came together with Force India's Nico Hulkenberg early on when the Williams driver was leaving the pits after making his first stop. The incident resulted in Hukenberg retiring and being handed a penalty for the following race. A slow puncture brought Massa back into the pits for new tyres.
