Alonso will not retire until he is a three-time champion

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso says he will not retire from Formula 1 until he has secured a third world title. The Spaniard took back-to-back championships with Renault in 2005 and 2006 but has failed to finish a season at the top of the drivers' standings since. He has been runner-up to Sebastian Vettel in three of the last four seasons, just missing out on the title in both 2010 and 2012. Talking to BBC Sport ahead of this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, where Mercedes drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton look set to dominate once again, he admitted that will not think about retiring from the sport until he has won a third championship.
