Remembering May 1 1994
Thursday marks the 20th anniversary of arguably F1's darkest day, the death of Ayrton Senna in the San Marino GP of May 1st 1994.On a weekend already enveloped by grief following the tragic accident of Roland Ratzenberger in qualifying, the sport suffered the shattering blow of Ayrton's passing after his crash during the race.
Such was the depth of feeling Ayrton generated, and the presence he cast across Formula 1, hearing the news of his death was a moment that all F1 fans through that era will never forget.
