Pirelli denies conservative approach to avoid criticism

Pirelli boss Paul Hembery has denied that his company has decided to 'go conservative' for the 2014 Formula 1 season after the tyre-exploding saga of last season.
After 2013, when the quality and degradation of the tyres were regular paddock talking points, the Italian marque has had a low-profile start to Formula 1′s new era with reportedly a better and more durable product.
Even the compound choice for Melbourne, where usually the very softest tyres can be used, has raised some eyebrows, but Hembery denied Pirelli has taken a conservative approach simply to quieten the damaging criticism of...
