The new front wing regulations coming into force at the Spanish Grand Prix have dominated the conversation heading into the first free practice session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

As a result of an FIA technical directive, teams will have to limit the amount of flexibility and deflection from that part of the car, but how it will affect teams is unclear and proving a point of division.

McLaren has not submitted any visible changes to the motorsport governing body, unlike Red Bull and Ferrari, and maintains it will not have any substantive impact on the F1 pecking order.

Conversely, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has suggested it will be a "game changer" amongst the leading teams.

Meanwhile, Lando Norris will hope to build on his victory at the Monaco Grand Prix. A victory this weekend will see him reclaim control of the drivers' championship battle over team-mate Oscar Piastri, regardless of where the Australian finishes.

Max Verstappen heads into the round looking to make it four consecutive wins at this track, in its last year as the official Spanish Grand Prix, before that title heads to Madrid next year, despite this venue remaining on the calendar for another season at least.

Victor Martins will make his F1 debut in FP1, in place of Alex Albon at Williams, whilst Ryo Hirakawa deputises for Esteban Ocon at Haas.
