FIA's ‘structural changes' hint at Masi's exit

Declaring there will be 'structural changes' in their action plan, it is being reported that Michael Masi's time as FIA race director is over. The 2021 season ended in controversy when Masi all but dictated the result of the race, and the championship, when he made the call to allow the cars between Lewis Hamilton and second Max Verstappen to unlap themselves. It's a 'motor race' were his words to Mercedes after Verstappen took the win and the title, but it was one that was set up by an unprecedented call, one that was not in the F1 rule book. The FIA informed the FIA Commission on Monday about its findings into the Abu Dhabi race, although as yet those details are being kept private...
