Column To news overview © Angelo Orsi Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell (1986 & 1987) Two of the most stubborn drivers of their era, the rivalry between Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell turned sour quite quickly when they teamed up at Williams. As the 1983 World Champion, Piquet moved to Williams alongside Mansell believing he would be the team leader. But this didn't really happen, and the rivalry quickly turned acrimonious as Piquet made some personal comments about Mansell's wife, Rosemary.
