Vasseur staying put to build up Alfa Romeo team

Alfa Romeo team boss Frederic Vasseur wants to sink his teeth into the challenge of building up the operation, rather than looking for something new. Vasseur has served as managing director and CEO of Sauber Motorsport since 2017, alongside his role of team principal at their Formula 1 team, which currently competes under the Alfa Romeo banner as part of their deal. In the past, Vasseur has been linked with moves away from the team – Mercedes and Renault had both been mentioned. But instead, the Frenchman would rather stay put and focus on building up the Alfa Romeo Orlen team. The first major hurdle to clear in that quest is of course keeping both of those parties involved.
