Sam Hall Friday 9 April 2021 10:59 Lance Stroll is entering his fifth season as a Formula 1 racing driver but the Canadian so far been unable to escape his tag as a pay driver. It is impossible to reach the heights of F1 without significant financial backing. In most cases, the money will come from lucrative sponsorship deals but some, like Stroll, are fortunate enough to rely on family to fund their careers. The pay driver tag is difficult to shake with judgement often passed on those concerned before a wheel has been turned.
