Alonso: Day onboard R.S.20 'ignited competitive spirit'
Fernando Alonso says a full day of testing of Renault's 2020 contender sparked his "competitive spirit" ahead of his return to the fray in 2021. Alonso, who recently accumulated mileage at the wheel of Renault's 2018 car as he ramped up his preparations for next season, set the fastest lap in Tuesday's post-season test at Abu Dhabi. Interestingly, a qualifying simulation by the Spaniard produced a 1m36.333 lap that was marginally quicker than the best time achieved by Renault last Saturday in qualifying at Yas Marina.
