Honda retreat could open the door to Verstappen exit
Honda's decision to withdraw from Formula 1 may imply that Max Verstappen will be a free agent at the end of the 2021 season. Verstappen's current contract with Red Bull runs until the end of 2023, but earlier this year, Red Bull motorsport boss Helmut Marko hinted at an exit clause in the Dutchman's agreement that would entitle him to leave the team if Honda decided to leave F1. "In principle, this contract is fixed. With a normal course everything is arranged," Marko said back in January. "We now have a contract with Honda until 2021.
