Hamilton beats Verstappen to pole after qualy scare

Lewis Hamilton took pole position in a dramatic Russian GP qualifying, which he was almost knocked out of early after Sebastian Vettel's Q2 crash - while Max Verstappen beat Valtteri Bottas to a surprising front-row start. Hamilton, who can equal Michael Schumacher's tally of 91 Formula 1 wins this weekend, only started an all-important Q2 lap with a second to spare after Vettel's big Ferrari shunt to the red flag - but after making it through to the final shootout the championship leader was, incredibly, dominant. Dusting himself off, Hamilton put more than half a second between himself and Bottas in Q3, who has had the edge for much of the weekend, before improving again on his final lap....
