Zanardi moved to new medical facility

Alex Zanardi has been transferred to another medical facility after coming out of his medically-induced coma, the Siena University Hospital announced on Tuesday. At the hospital since he suffered severe head and facial injuries in a hand-cycling accident on June 19, Zanardi had been placed under sedation in order to aid his recovery. Having reduced the sedation over the course of the past few days, the decision has now been taken to move the ex-Formula 1 driver and two-time CART champion to a 'specialized recovery and functional rehabilitation center' for further treatment.
