Renault: We didn’t have that pace so we paid the price

Renault F1 Team will line up outside the top ten for tomorrow’s Brazilian Grand Prix after an extraordinarily tight qualifying at Interlagos. Daniel Ricciardo qualified in twelfth place and was just 0.045secs off the top ten. Nico Hülkenberg, meanwhile, was a mere 0.018secs off Daniel but slotted in two places down in fourteenth. Both drivers required two runs to progress from Q1 with Nico through in tenth and Daniel 0.036secs down in eleventh. Nico was fifteenth after his first run in Q2 and found some improvement to gain a position to fourteenth, 0.063secs off Q3. Daniel too improved his second Q2 run but remained in twelfth. P14.
