Vettel defends 2017 move to faster, wider cars

Sebastian Vettel has defended the decision to introduce faster, wider cars to Formula 1 by saying the increase in car weight was ultimately the wrong direction. Formula 1 and the FIA are hoping that the new regulations in 2021 will help undo the decisions of the past and create a more competitive, exciting sport for all. However,  Vettel, a director of the GPDA who pushed for the move to higher downforce cars, has said there was a definite need for Formula 1 cars to be faster. 'Not at all.'
