Prost: Renault ‘surprised' by Ricciardo's eagerness to join
Russian Grand Prix – Renault's Alain Prost says the team were initially surprised by Ricciardo's willingness to join them from Red Bull Racing. Renault shocked the F1 world over the summer break when they announced that Daniel Ricciardo will join the French team on a two year deal from 2019 onwards. It was a surprise at the time as it was widely expected that Ricciardo would remain with Red Bull Racing, with Ricciardo always giving answers suggesting that a deal with them was just in the process of being formalised.
