Hamilton: "One of the best laps I've been able to produce"
Lewis Hamilton labelled his pole lap yesterday as one of his best laps ever. The British driver landed his 6th pole at Silverstone, 50th for Mercedes and 76th overall after facing strong pressure from rival Sebastian Vettel. The gap between the Silver Arrow and the red was just 0.04 seconds as they produced almost equal laps. Hamilton branded the outcome as a career highlight. "It was so close between the Ferrari cars, and I was just praying I could do it for you guys. Without you [crowd], I wouldn't have been able to do it," said a tired 33-year-old Hamilton.
