Ricciardo expected greater Ferrari interest

Daniel Ricciardo is "closer" to renewing his deal with Red Bull, having spoken of his surprise to see talks with Ferrari fizzle out. Ricciardo was heavily linked with a move to Maranello for 2019, although Charles Leclerc has now emerged as most likely to partner Sebastian Vettel next year. The Australian shaped up as the key player in next season's driver market, with his Red Bull contract coming to an end and potential vacancies at both Mercedes and Ferrari.
