Red Bull have had the car to beat all weekend on the streets of Monte-Carlo, but what should have turned out to be a front row lockout for the Blues turned bittersweet even before qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix, on Saturday afternoon, had even begun. True to expectations Daniel Ricciardo blasted to pole position for the race in a record-setting lap time, celebrating with his trademark ‘biggest smile in F1' while his glum-faced teammate Max Verstappen watched qualifying on TV from his pit garage while around him his crew toiled diligently to repair his severely damaged car.
