Mercedes find 0.25 seconds with new sidepods

Mercedes technical director James Allison has said that the new sidepod design which features on the W09 will be worth around a quarter of a second of improvement. The W09 is the first Mercedes car that Allison has properly overseen from the very start of the development process and has been talking about the differences between it and its predecessor – the title-winning W08. 'The biggest [change] is down here in the sidepod,' Allison said. 'We've done an awful lot of work down there to try to make that car really, really slender.
