Renault gives Red Bull until May for 2019 engine

Red Bull Racing Renault has given Red Bull a May deadline for it to decide whether it wishes to continue its current supply of engines into 2019. The relationship between Red Bull and Renault has been a rocky one since the introduction of new power unit regulations in 2014. Prior to that the duo claimed four successive titles with Sebastian Vettel, before Mercedes emerged the dominant force in recent seasons. Red Bull bosses Christian Horner and Helmut Marko were critical of their partner in the second half of 2016, threatening to withdraw from the sport if it could not get a supply of competitive powe units.
