Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton tops rain-hit second practice in Suzuka Lewis Hamilton set the fastest lap at Suzuka on Friday afternoon, but second practice for the Japanese Grand Prix was heavily impacted by heavy rain which made representative lap times impossible. The rain that has threatened the morning session arrived in full force in time for the start of Free Practice 2. A continuous downpour soon flooded the Suzuka circuit, forcing race control to indefinitely delay proceedings. Even safety car driver Bernd Maylander struggled to stay on track during his initial reconnaissance laps. The Mercedes-Benz GT S managed to produce an impressive bow wave in the large patches of standing water....
