Working group targets lighter engines for 2021 F1 regulations

At the most recent meeting of the engine working group last Tuesday it emerged that constructors are looking for an engine formula that will provide simpler and lighter engines, following a considerable weight increase since the introduction of the Hybrid power units in 2014. Speaking to Auto Motor und Sport at the most recent engine working group meeting, Renault chief Cyril Abiteboul said the target is to have simpler and cheaper power units as of 2021 - after it was previously agreed that the current engine formula would remain in use until the 2020 championship.
