Senna helmet is a replica
As he was presented with Ayrton Senna's helmet after matching the legendary Brazilian's record of 65 pole positions, Lewis Hamilton was expressly told that it was not a replica but the real thing, donated by Senna's family. However, it subsequently transpired that the iconic 1987 helmet was indeed a replica, though Hamilton will receive the real thing later in the season. Having witnessed the presentation, the Senna family told Autosport that the helmet given to Hamilton in Canada was one that was used for promotional purposes in 1987 and though the work of Sid Mosca who painted all Senna’s helmets, was never worn by the three-time world champion.
