McLaren to drop MP4 from F1 car name
– McLaren has revealed that its new Formula 1 challenger will be called the MCL32.Ron Dennis started the tradition of McLaren's F1 cars carrying the 'MP4' moniker, meaning 'McLaren Project Four', in 1981, having previously run a team by the name of 'Project Four Racing'.However, Dennis was forced to stand down as Chairman late last year, with marketing guru Zak Brown subsequently arriving as Executive Director of the McLaren Technology Group.McLaren is now taking on a new identity for 2017 with the MCL32 name."2017 is all about change, and our car name is changing too.
