FIA modifies penalty rules for 2017

– Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, has moved to modify the regulations regarding driver penalties for the 2017 season, clarifying stewards' responsibilities in a series of updates.As before, Race Director Charlie Whiting will continue to report incidents to the four-person stewarding panel, but the stewards will now be able to choose what they wish to investigate."The Race Director may report any on-track incident or suspected breach of these Sporting Regulations or the Code (an "incident") to the stewards. After review it shall be at the discretion of the stewards to decide whether or not to proceed with an investigation," read the updated...
