Button's F1 finale ends in race retirement
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Jenson Button's final Formula One race ended in retirement after a right-front suspension failure. The McLaren driver is very likely to have driven his last race in the sport, despite having a contract in place for the 2018 season. With the Briton treating the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as his final race, he had set a target of completing the full race distance. However, his McLaren succumbed to the kerbs at turn ten, resulting in damage to one of the front-right suspension components and forcing the 2009 champion to retire the car early on in the race.
