Renault’s Fred Vasseur: “Jolyon had a strong race”

Fred Vasseur praised Jolyon Palmer for his performance during the Mexican Grand Prix when the British racer climbed from the back of the grid to fourteenth, making one set of Medium tyres last from when he pitted at the end of the opening lap until the chequered flag. The Team Principal of the Renault Sport Formula 1 Team felt Palmer delivered a strong performance during the race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, although Vasseur was puzzled by Kevin Magnussen’s race in the second RS16, who appeared to struggle with his tyres, regardless of the compound. “Jolyon had a strong race where we made the most of an aggressive strategy and pitted him very early under the safety car,” said...
