Mexican GP: Rosberg calls Hamilton’s pole lap ‘brilliant’ Lewis Hamilton grabbed the pole position for the Mexican Grand Prix on Saturday and Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg fought back from his rough practice outings to earn the second place on the grid. The German called Mercedes teammate and title rival Hamilton’s qualifying lap was “brilliant” before confessing he had been struggling for pace through the race weekend so far. “Brilliant is two and a half tenths from Lewis?” Rosberg asked when his final lap in qualifying was called “brilliant”. “Lewis’ lap was brilliant, not so much mine.
