Raikkonen suffers bizarre retirement due to loose wheel; Ferrari fined
United States Grand Prix – Ferrari have picked up a fine for releasing Kimi Raikkonen's car from the pits in an unsafe condition, which resulted in the Finn retiring. Raikkonen was one of the main protagonists of the early part of the race, thanks to a great start that saw him jump up from P6 to P4 to stalk the leading Mercs and Daniel Ricciardo. Armed with the SuperSoft tyres, he pitted for Softs on Lap 9 and then, unusually, opted for SuperSofts again at the halfway point of the race.
