Hamilton breaks absolute Austin record to claim pole
Lewis Hamilton has claimed pole position for the United States Grand Prix after breaking the lap record at the Circuit of the Americas, with championship rival Nico Rosberg 0.2s further back. The British driver set a 1.34.999, and was 0.216 clear of Nico Rosberg, whilst the two Red Bull drivers were some half second further back, and down at Ferrari it was a disappointing day, lining up just fifth and sixth. Story of the session With Q1 getting underway, it was the Manor cars taking out to track first to try and avoid elimination. First up was Wehrlein, who set a 1.39.319 in the Manor.
