Red Bull blocked Sainz moving to Renault

Carlos Sainz was very close to making a deal to become a Renault driver, but Red Bull blocked the move and as a result the Spaniard will remain with Toro Rosso for another season. His father, rally legend, also Carlos Sainz told Marca,  'He was very close to leaving Toro Rosso. It was a was really interesting three year offer from Renault and he was interested. In the end Red Bull refused as they wanted him for one more year.' 'Next year will be a good one for Red Bull and they want to have someone in case something happens, and they prefer that it is Carlos. So on one side that is good and on the other side it is not so good.' mused Sainz senior.   'Joining a team like Renault...
