Mercedes running different specification oil to reduce reliability concerns

Japanese Grand Prix – Mercedes AMG, as well as their engine customer teams, are running revised parameters on their engines for this event, following Lewis Hamilton's high profile failure in Malaysia. Hamilton, who retired from the lead at Sepang after an engine failure that was eventually diagnosed as a big end bearing failure, is running the engine he last used in Singapore, while Nico Rosberg continues using the engine he had in Malaysia. Hamilton's engine, according to Mercedes, had just 618 kilometres racked up having been one of the new engine pool he had assembled following his multitude of engine penalties at the Belgian Grand Prix.
