Alonso: McLaren progress no guarantee of success in 2017
Fernando Alonso says that McLaren's current progress in Formula 1 offers no guarantee of success next year, but he thinks the team is on target to deliver a much stronger challenge for podiums and wins in 2017. The Spaniard is enjoying an upturn in form from McLaren-Honda, which has put behind it the nightmares of 12 months ago to now regularly challenge for Q3 and points. And although it is still short of its target of victories, Alonso thinks the team's move up the field is genuine, even if it will have no bearing on how successful it will be when new rules come in to play next year.
