Massa announces retirement from F1

Italian Grand Prix – Felipe Massa has announced that he will retire from Formula One at the end of the 2016 season. The Brazilian has been racing in the pinnacle of motorsport since 2002. He joined Sauber alongside Nick Heidfeld but, after a troubled rookie season, was put on the sidelines for 2003. He rejoined as a race driver in 2004 before BMW took over the team and Massa went to Ferrari to race alongside seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher in 2006. He showed he was a driver to be reckoned with, as he took his first career podium at the Nurburgring and then his first pole and victory at the Turkish Grand Prix.
