Rosberg tops FP1 at Spa

Belgian Grand Prix – Nico Rosberg was fastest in FP1 at Spa with a time of 1:48.348, seven tenths quicker than team mate Lewis Hamilton, both with their times set on the supersoft tyres. The World Champion has a 15-place grid penalty for a sixth MGU-H and turbo charger, but the team are expected to run more new components in the following two practice sessions. Current regulations dictate, ironically ones which Mercedes pushed for, that new engine components must be run on the weekend they are introduced on, in a bid to stop manufacturers from stockpiling on new engines.
