Pirelli offers a glimpse as 2017 tyre tests begin

Pirelli's 2017 F1 tyre testing programme has begun at Ferrari's test track in Fiorano with Sebastian Vettel debuting the new specification of tyre in the SF15-T. Ahead of next year's regulation revamp Pirelli secured an extensive test schedule shared between Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes working on both wet and slick compounds which will have a wider and fatter tread as part of the new regulations for 2017. Vettel, in the specially modified SF15-T to simulate the new aero rules, ran a few installation laps on the dry tyres in the morning to get a feel for the new rubber before switching his focus to testing the wet tyres on an artificially dampened surface at Fiorano.
