Toro Rosso finish strong day after fitting new aero package
German Grand Prix – Toro Rosso trialled a new aero package on their STR11 during Friday practice, with both drivers pleased with the progress made. The Toro Rossos performed strongly throughout the day's running, with Daniil Kvyat & Carlos Sainz both in the top ten in FP1. In the afternoon, Sainz finished P11 and Kvyat in P12. Sainz clocked up a total of 54 laps throughout the day, and explained that the old Ferrari power unit powering their car is proving a weak point despite their decent pace: “It was good to drive here for the first time with an F1 car – it was obviously quite challenging, but I enjoyed it.
