German GP: Rosberg leads Mercedes 1-2 in FP1

Nico Rosberg started his home race weekend on top of the times after going quickest in opening practice for the German Grand Prix. The Mercedes used the supersoft tyres to post a best time of 1:15.517 halfway through the session, his benchmark remaining untouched until the end. Rosberg outpaced teammate Lewis Hamilton by 0.326s during a mostly uneventful 90 minutes of running. The Mercedes duo were again in a league apart, with the Ferraris over a full second off the pace, Sebastian Vettel finishing ahead of Kimi Raikkonen.
