No Halo for 2017

German Grand Prix – Formula One has voted against the introduction of the Halo cockpit protection for 2017. A meeting in Geneva of the Formula One Strategy Group has ended months of speculation regarding developing cockpit protection in the sport, following a presentation given to drivers at the previous round in Hungary, showcasing examples of previous incidents in which the Halo would have bettered the scenario. Some teams made their opposition to the Halo very clear, such as Red Bull and Force India, which put the FIA in a position whereby they could potentially force its introduction on safety grounds.
