FIA confirms zero tolerance electronic track policing for qualifying

F1 drivers have been told their qualifying times will be deleted if track limits are abused in qualifying in Hungary tomorrow, as the FIA was happy with the new electronic detection system after practice. The news follows a successful trial of the new system in practice at Turns 4 and 11. Although times have been deleted in the past, this will be the first time that the FIA relies on an automatic system, rather than video and reports from track officials. In this afternoon's drivers briefing, race director Charlie Whiting confirmed that the detection system had worked well at Turn 4 today, but that at Turn 11 still needs some adjustment.
