Two year contract extension for Rosberg

Hungarian Grand Prix – Mercedes have announced a two year contract extension for Nico Rosberg through to the end of the 2018 season. The German’s future with the team was not considered completely secure amid ever-strengthening rumours of Fernando Alonso’s move to the Silver Arrows team for next year. The current tension between the two current drivers following two collisions so far this season was not helping. “Nico has been a core member of the Silver Arrows since the team returned to the sport in 2010 and has played a crucial role in the team's success in that time,” said the Mercedes statement.
