Bite-size tech: Manor MRT05 camera mounts
Manor has been refining the MRT05 over the last few races as it looks to close the gap to the opposition, and in Hungary it has made changes to the nose mountings for the camera housings. It has followed a design philosophy already employed by Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull and Toro Rosso whereby the cameras are mounted on stalks, lifting them away from the body of the nose into a more aerodynamically beneficial locale. This practice will be outlawed for 2017 but the team obviously feels it is worth the short-term gain for the rest of the season, with the air passing around them then influencing other airflow structures downstream, such as those created by the suspension, wing mirrors, cockpit...
