Top three drivers differ on safety car start verdict

British Grand Prix – There were contrasting opinions from the top three drivers about the need for a safety car start at today's British Grand Prix. Owing to a short but heavy rain shower prior to the race, the stewards decided to start the race behind the safety car. The instruction meant that all drivers were forced into starting the race on full wet tyres. The race was run under the safety car for several laps before pulling in to the pits. Within three laps, all drivers had pitted and changed onto the intermediate tyre compound.
