Ferrari confirm Vettel grid penalty

Sebastian Vettel will have a five-place grid drop at the British GP as his SF16-H needed a new gearbox in the wake of final practice. Putting in a hot lap on the soft tyres late in FP3, Vettel was visibily frustrated as he crossed the line with a 1:32.049. The cause of his frustration was made clear when he reported: “I think we failed the gearbox again.” Ferrari later confirmed that the German's car was being fitted with a new gearbox ahead of Saturday's qualifying. As a result, Vettel will face a mandatory five-place grid drop.
