Daniil Kvyat unhurt after hefty Q1 crash

Austrian Grand Prix – Toro Rosso's Daniil Kvyat brought out the red flags during Q1, having suffered a heavy crash due to a suspension failure on his car. The Russian driver was pushing hard in the final minutes of the Q1 session when he ran wide at the penultimate corner. Running over the new kerbing, the loads put on his rear suspension caused a failure at the right rear of the car. Kvyat lost control and speared off, hitting the inside barrier at the final corner. His car skittered into the gravel, and came to a stop up against the barriers lining the exit of the last turn. He was unhurt and clambered out. “Not the qualifying we wanted.
