FIA alters tyre pressure checks in Austria

The FIA have informed the teams that tyre pressure will now be checked before the wheel is fitted to the car in a bid to stop them using tricks to lower the pressure. It is thought that some teams have been running their brakes hot before putting the tyres on the car in a bid to increase the pressures. This means when the brakes cool down, the tyre pressure goes down aiding performance. In an effort to stop this from happening, the FIA will now check the tyre pressures before the wheels are fitted. FIA race director Charlie Whiting informed the teams that checks will now be carried out 'before the wheels are fitted to the car.'
