Sainz re-signs with Toro Rosso

Toro Rosso have put to rest rumours linking Carlos Sainz to Ferrari having taken up their option on the Spaniard for 2017. Sainz has put in a strong run of results this season, leading to speculation that he had caught the attention of Ferrari. The Spaniard, who was passed over for a Red Bull race-seat when the team opted to promote from within when looking for a replacement for Daniil Kvyat, was facing either a move away from the Red Bull family or a third season with Toro Rosso.
